Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I pay for my order?

We accept VISA, MasterCard and American Express on-line. You can also send a check with your order or fax us your credit card information after placing your order on-line.

How soon can I get my order?

You can choose among next day, second day, third day delivery, or ground service, which may take one to six days. Please check the shipping information section for more details. Please note that when you order our frozen gourmet, the products will not be completely frozen at arrival even if you chose the next day service.

How long can the frozen gourmet foods stay fresh at room temperature?
How long can they be refrigerated or frozen?

Since they contain no seafood, meat or meat by-products but are made from plant protein, our frozen gourmet foods will last for months in the freezer or for several weeks in the refrigerator. Before a package is opened, it will stay fresh for several days without refrigeration. Some of us like to bring them along when we go camping since they will stay fresh for several days when kept in shades and they are delicious straight from the package though they taste even better when barbecued.

What are the differences between US TVP and imported TVP?

Imported TVP generally has a finer texture that is preferred by many people. Also, because premium soy protein is used in imported TVP, those who are not used to eating bean products can general eat the imported TVP without experiencing any stomach discomfort.

What are the usual ingredients used in the frozen gourmet?

Soy, wheat, and other plant protein such as lotus root or sea vegetables, (all are vegan ingredients).

Why is the nutritional information on some of the products incomplete?

International herbal and packaged food products do not always list all nutritional information. Our selection of products are based on our customers' experience first, and wordings on the packages, second. All the products on these pages are products that we use and love because of their quality, flavor and health benefits, (for vegans, though nutritional information may be incomplete for some products, however, the ingredients for all of our products are listed on our site along with the pictures).

Why should I switch to a vegetarian diet?

For health reasons, out of concern for the environment, and to show compassion for animals. Please check our vegetarian information page for more information.

Some of the products are measured in grams. How many grams are in one ounce?

There are 28.409 grams in one ounce. For examples, 200g is equal to 7.04 oz, while 300g is the equivalent of 10.6 oz.

Why are there so many international food products on this site?

One wonderful thing about eating in the US, especially in big cities like New York, is the growing popularity of international cuisine. We find that it is even more important for vegetarians to go international because a lot of the most delicious vegetarian foods that we find are of international origin.

Can you tell me how some of these foods are cooked?

Please check our recipe page. We will try to add more 'quick & easy' recipes as time goes by.

Why do some of the names on the product packages sound kind of funny?

Many international food items do not translate easily into English. However, it is our experience that the most delicious and healthy vegetarian food will sometimes come in simple packages with funny names.
